    Abstract:

density lipoprotein (HDL) exhibits antiatherogenic properties for its functions in reverse cholesterol transport,antioxidant,anti-inflammation,anti-thrombosis and protection of vascular endothlial cells.Accumulating evidence has revealed that HDL levels are not positively related with their functions in the patients with atherosclerosis, metabolic syndrome, chronic inflammation or immune system disease.HDL,especially its protein composition,is susceptible to chemical modification including oxidation or glycation and may lose its beneficial role against atherosclerosis, even exhibit pro-atherogenic effect, such as proinflammatory and prooxidation.
