    Abstract:

Betatrophin, also known as lipasin or angiopoietin-like protein 8 (ANGP TL8), is mainly expressed in human liver and adipose tissue. There is increasing evidence to show the correlation between betatrophin expression and blood lipid levels, and especially in patients of obesity or diabetes, stimulated by factors such as insulin, thyroid hormone, and energy intake, it can lead to an increase in betatrophin levels. It has also been verified in animal models that betatrophin can increase serum triglyceride levels and promote the proliferation of pancreatic β-cells. This article reviews the latest research progress of betatrophin in lipid regulation.
