Abstract:Aim To evaluate the effect of advanced glycation end products(AGE) on the activity of Na+/H+ exchanger 1(NHE1) of vascular smooth muscle cell(VSMC) in rats. Methods Patch-attaching method was used in primary and continuous culture of the VSMC.The cultured VSMC of rat were exposed to AGE for 24 hours,and the activity of NHE1 was observed by using the fluorescent dye BCECF. Results AGE at concentration 1,5,10 mg/L can concentration-dependently increase the NHE1 activity,from 0.66±0.05 to 0.71±0.03,0.80±0.07,0.88±0.06 respectively;Results of RT-PCR showed that AGE can significantly increase the expression of NHE1 mRNA from 0.77±0.07 to 0.88±0.08,1.23±0.06,1.33±0.08 respectively(P<0.05 or P<0.01);Pretreatment with the inhibitor of the receptor for advanced glycation end products(RAGE) anti-RAGE and inhibitor of mitogen-activated protein kinase(MAPK)PD98059 at concentration 1,10,25 μmol/L can significantly decrease the NHE1 activity from 0.94±0.05 to 0.86±0.06,0.74±0.05,0.66±0.07 respectively compared with the AGE treatment group(P<0.05 or P<0.01). Conclusion AGE can significantly increase the NHE1 activity,and the mechanism may be related to the RAGE activated and the MAPK.

Abstract:Aim To analyse bininformatics on heart developmental candidate gene ZNF569 providing guiding opinion for functional study of ZNF569. Methods Bininformatical analysis on ZNF569 was made by utilizing Bininformatical Web and soft ware. Results Protein containing KRAB/C2H2 is an important transcriptional factor.Alignment between the cDNA sequence and human genome indicates that ZNF569 is identical on chromosome 19q13.12,spanning approximately 56.28 kb in reverse manner on the genome and organized into 6 exons ZNF569 encodes a putative protein of 686 amino acids.The predicted amino acid sequence of ZNF569 contains an N-terminal Krüppel-associated box(KRAB) domain,and a series of 18 C2H2 zinc finger motifs that extend to the end of the protein sequence.A search of published DNA databases for sequences similar to that of ZNF569 demonstrated that they had varying degrees of similarity to a number of previously identified C2H2-type zinc-fingers protein. Sequence analysis and database comparison indicate that the predicted protein contains 18 different C2H2 zinc-finger domains in tandem arrays,characteristic of transcription factor proteins of this family. Conclusion A search of analyzed evolutionary relationship among different zinc-finger proteins with phylogenetic tree analysis show that ZNF569 is one of the conserved proteins during evolution.

Abstract:Aim To study the effect of ultra-filtration extract from the mixture of angelica sinensis and hedysarum polybotrys on the expressions of protein and mRNA of bcl-2 and bax gene in the apoptotic myocardial cells. Methods H2O2 of 400 μmol/L was used to build an oxidative stress-induced injury model in neonatal rat cardiomyocytes and then cardiomyocytes of each treatment group were treated with the Ultra-filtration extract(3.75,7.5,15 g/L).Morphological changes of cardiomyocytes were observed in microscope.The levels of bcl-2 and bax expression in cardiomyocytes were measured by RT-PCR and Western-blot. Results In cardiomyocytes of model group,the expression of bcl-2 and the rate of bcl-2/bax were decreased,and the expression of bax was increased significantly,compared with normal group(P<0.05).In cardiomyocytes of the high dosage group and the middle dosage group of the treatment,the bcl-2 expression was increased(P<0.05),the bax expression was decreased(P<0.05),and the rate of bcl-2/bax was increased(P<0.05),compared with model group.In cardiomyocytes of the little dosage group of the treatment,the expressions of bcl-2 and bax and the rate of bcl-2/bax were not changed significantly. Conclusion Ultra-filtration extract from the mixture of angelica sinensis and hedysarum polybotrys can effectively prevent and treat myocardial cells apoptosis,and its mechanism may be associated with up-regulation of the rate of bcl-2/bax.

Abstract:Aim To study the new combinatorial compounds of curcumin transformated by M.purureus went of curcumin and its anti-low density lipoprotein(LDL)-oxidation properties. Methods The strain M.purureus went was used for microbial transformation.A copper-induced human LDL oxidation model and macrophage LDL oxidation model were set to study the anti-LDL-oxidation properties.The antioxidant activities were assessed on the basis of the relative remove mobility(REM) on agarose gel electrophoresis and thiobarbituric acid reactive substances(TBARS). Results The metabolites of curcumin can significantly inhibit the LDL oxidation at concentration range of 4~500 mg/L compared with substrate control and strain control both in Cu2+-induced and macrophage mediated(P<0.001). Conclusion AntiLDL-oxidation properties of curcumin metabolites transformed by M.purureus went were proved to be enhanced.

Abstract:Aim To investigate the dynamic changes of adrenomedullin mRNA expression and its level in the hypothalamus of stress-induced-hypertensive rats. Methods 58 male SD rats were divided into control group(n=23) and stress group(n=35) receiving noise or noise with electric foot shock randomly combined and output by a computer for 15 days.48 rats were executed and their hypothalamus were separated to monogenate individually at stress 1,5,10 and 15 days and post-stress 5 and 10 days(for each subgroup n=3 or n=5).The changes of the adrenomedullin mRNA expression were determined by reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction method. The levels of adrenomedullin were examined by radioimmunoassay.Another 10 rats were divided into the control group(n=5) and the stress group receiving stress for 10 days to detect the immunoreactive changes in hypothalamus with immunohistochemistry method. Results After stress for 5 days,the artery pressure significantly increased and reached a peak on 15th day(156.3±3.3 mmHg vs 114.0±2.6 mmHg,P<0.01).The artery pressure significantly increased.Even post-stress for 10 days,the artery pressure still kept at high level.Compared with the control group at each time point,ADM mRNA expression in the hypothalamus up-regulated within 10 days(day 5,0.99±0.05 vs 0.92±0.04,P<0.05;day 10,1.26±0.04 vs 0.92±0.04,P<0.01),and then downregulated,but still kept at a high level at 15 days (1.00±0.04 vs 0.92±0.04, P<0.05).ADM levels increased within 10 days compared with control group(day 1,1.25±0.22 vs 0.93±0.19,P<0.05;day 5,1.69±0.29 vs 0.97±0.21,P<0.01;day 10,2.00±0.28 0.94±0.24,P<0.01),then decreased to the levels of the control group. With immunohistochemistry method,detected adrenomedullin immunoreactive neurons significantly strengthened in the paraventricular neucleus of the hypothalamus in the stress group compared with the control group(110.21±3.10 vs 127.56±3.50,P<0.01). Conclusion The results suggested that footshock and noise stress for a longer time induced a significant increase in blood pressure,while adrenomedullin mRNA and levels significantly increased in hypothalamus,especially in the paraventricular neucleus of the hypothalamus,indicating that ADM in the hypothalamus might involve in the pathophysiological process of the development of stress-induced hypertension.

Abstract:Aim To investigate whether Rb1 could block tumor necrosis factor-α(TNF-α)induced inflammation in human umbilical vein endothelial cell(HUVEC). Methods HUVEC were treated with TNF-α(0.5 μg/L) and/or Rb1(15 mg/L) for 16 hours.The mRNA level of vascular cell adhesion molecule-1(VCAM-1) was determined by real-time PCR and flow cytometry,respectively.Human macrophage THP-1 labeled with a fluorescent dye(Calcein-AM) was used for the adhesion assay on HUVEC monolayer.Dihydroethidium(DHE) was used to demonstrate in situ levels of superoxide production.JC-1 dye was used to measure changes in mitochondrial membrane potential. Results TNF-α treatment significantly increased the mRNA expression of VCAM-1 in HUVEC,as compared to controls.Rb1 pretreatment blocked the TNF-α induced mRNA expression of VCAM-1,and also effectively blocked THP-1 adhesions.Furthermore,Rb1 reduces TNF-α induced increase of superoxide anion production and inhibits TNF-α induced decrease of mitochondrial membrane potential in HUVEC. Conclusion These data suggested that Rb1 might have potential therapeutic effects in controlling inflammation in vascular diseases.

Abstract:Aim To investigate the effect of genistein on activation of nuclear factor kappa B(NF-κB) in vascular smooth muscle cells(VSMC) induced by oxidized low density lipoprotein(ox-LDL) and further examine the activation mechanism. Methods Human umbilical vein smooth muscle cells were pretreated with genistein in different concentrations(10,30,90 μmol/ L) and then treated by 50 mg/ L of ox-LDL for 2 hours.Immunocytochemistry staining was used to detect the nuclear translocation of NF-κB subunit p65.The intracellular level of inhibitory kappa B(IκB),inhibitor of NF-κB,was detected by Western blotting analysis.The levels of nitric oxide(NO) in the culture medium was detected by the method of nitric acid reductase. Results Genistein significantly restrains the nuclear translocation of NF-κB in VSMC induced by ox-LDL;High concentration of genistein increases intracellular IκB-α level and doesn't have significant effect on level of NO in the culture medium. Conclusion Genistein inhibited activation of NF-κB induced by ox-LDL in VSMC.The mechanism is associated with increase of IκB and may not associate with nitric oxide level.
Abstract:Aim To observe the expression of histone deacetylase 2 (HDAC 2) in hypertrophic cardiocytes induced by angiotensinⅡ(AngⅡ). Methods The cultured cardiocytes were treated with AngⅡ of different concentrations to induce hypertrophy.The mRNA levels of HDAC 2 and β-myosin heavy chain(β-MHC) were exmained by reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction.The protein expressions of HDAC 2 and c-fos were exmanined by immunohistochemistry method.The morphologic changes of cardiocytes were observed under the contrast phase microscope. Results Myocytes were cultured successfully.After stimulated by AngⅡ the myocytes were enlarged under the contrast phase microscope.With the increasing of AngⅡ concentrations(2×10-6 mol/L,2×10-7 mol/L and 2×10-8 mol/L),the mRNA levels of HDAC 2 and β-MHC increased.The immunohistochemistry results showed that the protein expressions of HDAC 2 and c-fos also increased in the hypertrophic cardiocytes.The areas of the myocytes increased with different AngⅡ(P<0.05). Conclusions The expression of HDAC 2 increased in hypertrophic cardiocytes stimulated by AngⅡ. HDAC 2 may play a role in cardiocyte hypertrophy.

Abstract:Aim To investigate the role of cytokines in myocardium following coronary microembolization(CME) and the effects of ethyl pyruvate as a myocardial protective agent in the rat CME model. Methods We created a rat model of CME by injecting a suspension of autogenic microthrombotic particles into left ventricle.36 rats were randomly divided into 3 groups,each consisted of 12 rats: sham-operation group(SO),CME model group and ethyl pyruvate intervention group(EP).Haemodynamic measurements were performed on day 3 and then the rats were sacrificed. Protein expressions of tumor necrosis factor-alpha(TNF-α),interferon-1(IL-1β) were analyzed by Western blotting.Alterations of TNF-α,IL-1β mRNA were quantitatively assessed by Real-time PCR. Results Compared with the sham group, left ventricular systolic pressure(LVSP) and the maximum rise rate of left ventricular pressure(+dp/dtmax) significantly decreased(P<0.05),while left ventricular end diastolic pressure(LVEDP) significantly increased(P<0.05) in the CME group.Compared with those of the sham group,the expressions of TNF-α,IL-1β protein and gene were significantly increased in CME group(P<0.05). Ethyl pyruvate significantly suppressed protein and mRNA expression of TNF-α,IL-1β(P<0.05),improved cardiac functions. Conclusion In this study of rat after coronary microembolization,ethyl pyruvate preserved cardiac function due to supression of the TNF-α and IL-1β.

Abstract:Aim To observe the effect of atorvastatin on the expressions of angiotensin-converting enzyme 2(ACE2) within heart in two kidney and one-clip(2K1C) hypertensive rats.To discuss new possible mechanism of atorvastatin on improving myocard remodeling. Methods Fifty adult male Wistar rats were randomly divided into five groups(n=8): control group,2K1C hypertension group,valsartan group,atorvastatin 10 mg/(kg·d) group and atorvastatin 30 mg/(kg·d) group.SBP was measured before making 2K1C hypertension model,after drugs were given for 4 weeks and 8 weeks by tail-cuff method. After 8 weeks,entire heart,and left ventricle were weighed.The left ventricular weight index was calculated.The distribution and expression of ACE2 in heart were detected by immunohistochemistry and the expression of ACE2 mRNA was determined by RT-PCR.The myocardial angiotensinⅡlevel was measured by radioimmunoassay. Results The high dose atorvastatin and valsartan group could make SBP significantly decreased compared with the hypertension group(P<0.01).(2) Compared with the hypertension group,entire heart weight,left ventricular weight and left ventricular weight index were decreased in the control,high dose atorvastatin and valsartan group after all drugs were given for 8 weeks(P<0.05).(3)The level of angiotensinⅡin rat myocard tissue was decreased in high dose atorvastatin group compared with that of the hypertension group(P<0.01).(4)The expression of ACE2 protein was increased in the valsartanan,low and high dose atorvastatin group compared with that of the hypertension group.(5) ACE2 mRNA in heart was expressed in all rats.The levels of ACE2 mRNA expression increased differentially by valsartan,low and high dose atorvastatin treatment compared with that of the hypertensive group(P<0.05). Conclusion Atorvastatin can improve myocard remodeling along with SBP decreases.The myocard remodeling effect of atorvastatin may be ascribed to the increased ACE2 in heart,the decreased angiotensinⅡin myocard tissue.

Abstract:Aim To investigate the effects of vascular endothelial growth factor(VEGF) and shear stress on the differentiation of bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells(MSC). Methods MSC were isolated from adult marrow mononuclear cells by attaching growth.MSC were subjected to VEGF,different levels of shear stress(8 and 15 dyn/cm2) and VEGF+shear stress respectively,for 7 d,24 h or 24 h.Cell shape and orientation were observed at 0 h,24 h during shear stress.Indirect IF staining was employed to identify the endothelial cell-specific marker von Willebrand factor(vWF).A functional marker of mature endothelial cells was examined by the uptake of Dil labled acetylated low density lipoproteins(Dil-ac-LDL). Results After subjection to VEGF,shear stress of 8 dyn/cm2 for 7 d,24 h respectively,MSC tended to be a more rounder,polygon-like cell shape,and MSC of shear stress group aligned parallel to the flow,MSC were positive for vWF staining,indicating the endothelial phenotype,and also positive for the uptaking of Dil-ac-LDL,indicating the possession of mature endothelial function.Cells treated with VEGF and shear stress of 15 dyn/cm2 for 24 h were negative for both the vWF staining and the uptaking of Dil-ac-LDL,indicating the lack of differentiation.After VEGF and shear stress acted 24 h together,MSC can be induced into endothelial cell. Conclusion Shear stress can induce the differentiation of MSC into endothelial cells in a stress level dependent way.Shear stress combined with VEGF not only induce the differentiation of MSC into endothelial cells,but also cause cell proliferation,which seems to have a better effect than only shear stress.

Abstract:Aim To investigate the effects of rosiglitazone on insulin resistance and the expression of adiponectin and its receptors in the adipose tissue in ovariectomized rats. Methods Thirty-six female Sprague-Dawley rats were randomly divided into three groups: the sham control group,the ovariectomized group and the ovariectomized+rosiglitazone group.The changes of insulin sensitive index(ISI),blood pressure were measured. The content of visceral adipose depots was observed.The expression of adiponectin and its receptors(AdipoR1 and AdipoR2) in the visceral adipose tissue were analyzed by reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction(RT-PCR). Results Compared with the sham control group,the blood pressure and the content of visceral adipose depots were significantly increased,ISI was significantly decreased,and the expressions of adiponectin and AdipoR1/R2 in visceral adipose were significantly decreased in the ovariectomized rats.Compared with the ovariectomized group,these effects were reversed by rosiglitazone in the ovariectomized+rosiglitazone group. Conclusion Rosiglitazone improved insulin resistance by up-regulating the expression of adiponectin and its receptors in the adipose tissue in ovariectomized rats.

Abstract:Aim To explore the changes and related factors of pulse wave velocity(PWV)in hypertensive patients with obesity. Methods 300 hypertensive subjects in each group with or without obesity were enrolled.Brachial-ankle PWV(baPWV) in each patient were measured by using VP-1000 measurement system,and their blood glucose,total cholesterol,triglyceride,high density lipoprotein cholesterol,low density lipoprotein cholesterol, uric acid and waist circumference were determined.With BaPWV as the dependent variable and age,systolic blood pressure,diastolic blood pressure,pulse pressure,body mass index,waist circumference,blood glucose,triglycerides,total cholesterol,high density lipoprotein,creatinine,uric acid as independent variables,the multivariate analysis was made. Results BaPWV was significantly higher in hypertensive with obesity group(1635±239 cm/s)than those in simple hypertensive group(1583±288 cm/s;P<0.05). BaPWV was positively related to systolic blood pressure and pulse pressure(P<0.05),but not related to diastolic blood pressure(P>0.05).Multiple stepwise regression analysis showed that age,systolic blood pressure and waist circumference were closely related to baPWV as an arterial stiffness maker in the 600 hypertensive patients. Conclusions BaPWV has significant difference between hypertension complicated by obesity and simple hypertension.Age,systolic blood pressure and waist circumference are closely related to baPWV.

Abstract:Aim To investigate the changes of plasma matrix metalloproteinase-2(MMP-2),tissue inhibitor of matrix metalloproteinase-2(TIMP-2) level and MMP-2/TIMP-2 ratio in patients with different types of coronary heart disease(CHD),and discuss clinical significances. Methods A total of 118 patients were divided cardioangiographically and clinically into following groups: acute coronary syndrome(ACS) group with 49 cases including unstable angina pectoris(UAP) subgroup with 30 cases and acute myocardial infarction(AMI) with 19 cases;non-ACS group with 44 cases including stable angina pectoris(SAP) with 23 cases and chronic total occlusion of coronary artery(CTO) with 21cases;and normal coronary artery group as a control with 25 cases.The plasma levels of MMP-2 and TIMP-2 were assayed by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay(ELISA). Results Compared with normal coronary artery group,remarkably elevated plasma MMP-2 level was observed in ACS group and non-ACS group(both P<0.05),and the increasing of MMP-2/TIMP-2 ratio was significant(P<0.01) in both ACS and non-ACS groups.MMP-2 and TIMP-2 level and MMP-2/TIMP-2 ratio were obviously higher in ACS group than that in non-ACS group(P<0.05 or P<0.01).MMP-2 level was increasing more in UAP subgroup(P<0.05),AMI subgroup(P<0.05),and CTO subgroup(P<0.01) compared with normal coronary artery group,respectively.Comparison between normal coronary artery group with each subgroup,concentration of TIMP-2 was higher in UAP subgroup(P<0.05),SAP subgroup(P<0.001),and CTO subgroup(P<0.01),respectively. Conclusion The developing of atherosclerosis plaque was associated with plasma MMP-2 level,TIMP-2 level and imbalance of MMP-2/TIMP-2 proportion in CHD patients.The increased MMP-2 level and imbalance of MMP-2/TIMP-2 proportion in patients with CHD suggested instability of atherosclerotic plaque,and might be viewed as one of predictable biomarkers for occurrence of ACS event.

Abstract:Aim To study the relationship between Cytochrome P450 2C9(CYP2C9) gene polymorphism and coronary heart disease(CHD) and to investigate if there is the effect of CYP2C9 gene polymorphism on plasma lipid levels. Methods The polymerase chain reaction and gene sequence detection were used to detect CYP2C9 genotypes in 218 CHD cases and 200 controls.Plasma lipid levels were measured by using routine method. Results Statistical differences in CYP2C9*1 and CYP2C9*3 frequencies between CHD cases and controls were seen(P<0.05).The frequency of CYP2C9*3 was significantly higher than that in controls.Unfortunately,no relationgship was seen between CYP2C9 gene polymorphism and plasma lipid levels. Conclusion These results suggest that CYP2C9 gene polymorphism is in association with the occurrence and development of CHD. But it does not affect the plasma lipid levels.

Abstract:Aim To study the plasma level of macrophage inflammatory protein-1α(MIP-1α) in patients with coronary atherosclerotic heart disease(CHD),and the correlation of MIP-1α with coronary atherosclerotic lesion severity. Methods The plasma levels of MIP-1α were measured by enzyme linked immunosorbent assay(ELISA) in 25 cases of control group and 84 cases with CHD(including 26 cases with stable pectoris angina(SAP),30 with unstable angina pectoris(UAP),and 28 with acute myocardial infarction(AMI)). All patients with CHD were taken coronary artery angiography to obtain the branch numbers of coronary lesion and Gensini coronary scoring,then the correlations were analysed between MIP-1α levels and the lesion severity of coronary lesion with Gensini coronary scoring system. Results The plasma level of MIP-1α in patients with CHD were significantly higher than that in control group(P<0.05).The plasma levels of MIP-1α were graduly increased among SAP group,UAP group and AMI group,and among mild,moderate and severe coronary lesions groups(all P<0.05),but had no obvious change in different impaired coronary branch number groups of CHD(P>0.05).The plasma levels of MIP-1α were positivly correlated with Gensini coronary scoring system(r=0.28,P<0.05). Conclusion The plasma level of MIP-1α were significantly elevated in CHD patients and could possiblly efficiently assess the severity and stability of coronary atherosclerotic lesion.
Abstract:Aim To observe the curative effect of reteplase(rPA)and recombinant streptokinase(r-SK)in the patients with ST-elevation myocardial infarction(STEMI). Methods Forty patients with STEMI had accepted rPA(22 cases)or r-SK(18 cases),The patency of infarct-related coronary artery was assessed by unified clinical criteria.The revascularization rate,mortality,cardia failure,shock and incidence of bleeding complications were observed. Results 120 minutes after thrombolysis,the revascularization rate were 86.36%,66.66% in rPA group and r-SK group respectively.The early reperfusion rates(60 minutes and 90 minutes)of rPA group is higher than those of r-SK group.The differences was statically significant(P<0.05).The rates of recurrent myocardial infarctions,heart failure,cardiac shock,postinfarction angina pectoris showed no differences in two groups 30 days after thrombolysis(P>0.05).The mortalities of two groups were 4.55% in rPA group,5.55% in r-SK group(P<0.05).Bleeding incidence was more often in rPA group than in r-SK group(P<0.05). Conclusion Reteplase and recombinant streptokinase are all effective and safe thrombolytic agents in the treatment of STEMI in emergency department.The early reperfusion rate of reteplase is higher than that of recombinant streptokinase.
Abstract:Aim To investigate the significance of C reactive protein(CRP) in predicting the prognosis after percutaneous coronary intervention(PCI) within 6 hours after attack of acute myocardial infarction(AMI). Methods The CRP levels in plasma was detected in 84 AMI patients within 6 hours after attack,and the patients were divided into increased CRP group(CRP concentration >5 mg/L) and normal CRP group(CRP concentration <5 mg/L).All of the cases underwent PCI.The factors of common clinical data,past medical history,pathological changes of coronary artery were compared between the two groups,and the kak-incident occurrences of heart,for example restenosis,re-infarction in the same position,recurrent angina pectoris,heart failure and cardiogenic sudden death were observed by following-up. Results The CRP levels and the peak value in the increased CRP group were significantly higher than those in the normal CRP group,and there were significant difference between two groups(P<0.05). The quantities of coronary artery in the increased CRP group were more than those in the normal CRP group,and the incidence rate of kak-incident of heart in the increased CRP group was 25.9%(7/27),which was higher than 9.3%(5/54)in the normal CRP group(P<0.05). Conclusion The CRP levels within 6 hours after attack of AMI can be taken as one of the indexes to predict the prognosis of PCI.

Abstract:Aim To investigate the current prevalence of high-normal blood pressure,hypertension and their related risk factors of officials in Changsha city Hunan Province,and to provide evidences for making strategies of prevention and treatment. Methods A resident group of officials in Changsha city was selected for a cross-sectional investigation.The subjects were classified as three groups: people with normal blood pressure,high-normal blood pressure and hypertension.The prevalence of high-normal blood pressure and hypertension in the selected subjects was calculated.And the differences of smoking,drinking,and other risk factors were compared among the three groups,and multinomial Logistic regression analysis was applied to analyze the related risk factors.Moreover,conditions that the three groups were accompanied with possible risk factors were concluded. Results The prevalence of high-normal blood pressure was 42.54% and that of hypertension was 22.87% in officials in Changsha city.A much larger percentage of people with high-normal blood pressure had a habit of smoking or drinking,or a family history of premature cardiovascular disease than normal people,but the percentage was much smaller than people with hypertension(P<0.05).People with high-normal blood pressure had higher levels of body mass index(BMI),fasting blood glucose(FBS),total cholesterol(TC),low density lipoprotein cholesterol(LDLC),triglyceride(TG) than normal people(P<0.05),but lower levels than people with hypertension(P<0.05).The level of high density lipoprotein cholesterol(HDLC) was lower than normal group(P<0.05) but higher than hypertension group(P<0.05).The prevalence of normal-high blood pressure in men was much higher than that in women(P<0.01),but there was no significant difference in the prevalence of hypertension(P>0.05) between men and women.The age,BMI,smoking,drinking,family history of premature cardiovascular disease,lipid abnormality and blood sugar were highly related to the prevalence of high-normal blood pressure and hypertension.12.94% of people with high-normal blood pressure and 14.02% of people with hypertension had three or more cardiovascular risk factors. Conclusion The prevalence of high-normal blood pressure and hypertension was higher in officials in Changsha city Hunan Province than national average level.High normal blood pressure was more common in men than in women.Factors as age,smoking,drinking,family history,blood fat,blood sugar,BMI were highly related to the prevalence of high-normal blood pressure and hypertension.Three or more cardiovascular risk factors existed in more than 10% of people with high-normal blood pressure or hypertension.
