Abstract:Aim To assess the prevalence of diabetes(DM) and associated factors among the elderly population aged 60~79 years in urban communities of Chengyu area. Methods A total of 2 135 adults aged 60~79 years were enrolled from urban communities of Chengdu and Chongqing area using a stratified cluster sampling method. Fasting blood glucose (FPG) was arranged in all patients. Oral glucose-tolerance test (OGTT) were used for assessments for those who have no history of DM. The survey was carried out by the same questionnaire for all subjects. Results DM prevalence was 39.6% in hypertensive patients aged 60 to 79 years in urban communities of Chengyu area, and with the rates of 35.0% and 42.9% in men and women, respectively (P<0.01). DM prevalence of elderly hypertensive population increased with age (trend P=0.02). A total of 59.9% of the diabetic patients were newly diagnosed in this survey. Age, higher income level, family history of DM, overweight or obesity, Hypertriglyceridemia were risk factors of DM among hypertensive patients aged 60 to 79 years, and the physical exercise was protective factor. Conclusion There was a high prevalence of DM among hypertensive patients aged 60 to 79 in urban communities of Chengyu area, most diabetic patients were missed.

Abstract:Aim To estimate the prevalence rate, awareness rate, treatment rate, and control rate of dyslipidemia in Uygur people over 35 years old in Aksu area of Xinjiang. Methods Stratified sampling method was used to select a representative subject of the general population in eight cities of Aksu from April 2012 to June 2014. Results The prevalence rate of dyslipidemia was 53.6%. For women, the prevalence rate of dyslipidemia was higher in older women than that in younger women (53.1% vs. 51.5%, P=0.024). Among the participants with dyslipidemia, the aware rate, treatment rate, control rate of dyslipidemia were 34.5%, 28.0%, and 16.8%. For the total and 35~54 years old subgroup, the treatment rate of dyslipidemia was significantly higher in women than that in men (for total:30.3% vs. 24.9%, P=0.004; for 35~54 years subgroup:29.7% vs. 24.2%, P=0.028). For total subjects, the control rate of dyslipidemia was significantly higher in women than that in men (18.1% vs. 15.0%, P=0.047). Conclusions Uygur people over 35 years old in Aksu area of Xinjiang have a highly prevalence of dyslipidemia, their awareness rate, treatment rate and control rate of dyslipidemia are low. The treatment rate and control rate of dyslipidemia in men were significantly lower than those in women, we should pay attention to the prevention and treatment of dyslipidemia in men.

Abstract:Aim To provide a basis for the primary prevention of diabetes, hyperlipemia and hyperuricemia by comparing the difference on blood glucose, blood lipids and serum uric acid levels in community groups and regular physical examination groups, and the prevalence rates of hyperglycemia, hyperlipemia and hyperuricemia. Methods The difference on fasting blood glucose, blood lipids(including total cholesterol(TC),triglyceride(TG),high density lipoprotein cholesterol(HDLC),low density lipoprotein cholesterol(LDLC) and serum uric acid levels were compared in community groups and regular physical examination groups of Taiyuan in our hospital. The total number of these two groups were 9960. Results Fasting blood glucose, bood lipids and serum uric acid had no difference between community groups and regular physical examination groups.LDLC and uric acid between the two groups were significantly different. The incidence of diabetes and hyperlipemia in community groups were significantly higher than that in regular physical examination groups. The incidence of hyperuricemia had no difference between the two groups. The incidence of these illnesses had sex difference. The incidence of diabetes, hyperlipemia and hyperuricemia in women changed along with age. Conclusions Regular physical examination is helpful to diagnose the diabetes and hyperlipemia. The incidence of hyperlipemia and hyperuricemia is influenced by age.The old age women have high risk for hyperuricemia.

Abstract:Aim To investigate the prevalence rate of hypertension and its primary risk factors in patients with dilated cardiomyopathy(DCM). Methods 362 patients with DCM(DCM group)and 401 age-matched residents(control group) were enrolled randomly in the study, the hypertensive prevalence rate were calculated respectively in the two groups and was compared with each other. The patients in the DCM group were divided into two subgroups(hypertension subgroup and no-hypertension sub-group) according to whether the patients had hypertension;the clinical data relating to blood pressure were compared between the two subgroups. Results The pervalence rate of hypertension in DCM group was significantly higher than that in the control group(32.9% vs 21.7%,p<0.01).There were no significant differences on the age, gender, occupation and left ventricular ejection fraction(LVEF) between the two subgroups, but the mean heart rate and the percentage of patients who had hypertensive family history were significantly higher in the hypertension subgroup than that in the no-hypertension subgroup(p<0.05 or p<0.01). Conclusion The prevalence rate of hypertension in patients with DCM was high. The increased activity of sympathetic nervous system and the hypertensive genetic factor may be the primary risk factors of hypertension in patients with DCM.

Abstract:Aim To explore the changes of the prevalence rate of blood pressure abnormality in Shanghai Bao-Steel Company-based population. Methods All medical records of the employees were analyzed, who underwent health examination biennially from 1995 to 2002.Systolic blood pressure(SBP) abnormality, diastolic blood pressure(DBP) abnormality and hypertension were diagnosed by SBP≥140 mmHg, DBP≥90 mmHg and SBP≥140 mmHg or DBP≥90 mmHg or administrated hypotensive drugs.SPSS 11.5 of statistical software was used for data analysis. Results During the study period,59 131 person-times received periodic medical check-up,of which 27.1% participants received four times check-up,and 26.6% three times,24.0% twice, respectively. The mean SBP increased from 115.7 mmHg to 123.6 mmHg,and the mean DBP increased from 76.8 mmHg to 83.0 mmHg.The standardization prevalence rates of SBP abnormality and DBP abnormality increased separately from 4.1% and 12.3% to 8.0% and 20.6%.The standardization prevalence rate of hypertension increased from(13.4%) to 23.6% from 1995 to 2000,then decreased to 20.1%.The standardization prevalence rates of SBP abnormality and DBP abnormality of the total increased with time.By the analysis of age and sex,it was found that the prevalence rate of SBP abnormality increased significantly with time in men younger than 60 years old and the prevalence rate of DBP abnormality increased significantly with time in men younger than 50 years old,but the prevalence rates of SBP abnormality and DBP abnormality were so only in women in 40~49 years old.No matter in the total or men or women younger than 60 years old,the prevalence rate of hypertension increased with time from 1995 to 2000,but decreased in 2001~2002.At the same time and the same age range the prevalence rate of blood pressure abnormality in men was higher than that in women. At the same time the prevalence rate of DBP abnormality was higher than that of SBP abnormality. Conclusion The prevalence rates of SBP abnormality and DBP abnormality were increasing in Bao-Steel Company employees, which occured mainly in the middle-age and young men.
