Chinese Journal of Arteriosclerosis has columns such as Perspective, Experimental Research, Clinical Research, Epidemiology, Methodological Research, Newsletters, Diagnosis and Treatment, Short Article, Case Reports, Literature Review, Discussion, News, etc. The column of Perspective is contributed by invited experts. Other columns welcome authors to submit articles of atherosclerosis in the field of basic medicine, clinical medicine, biology, traditional Chinese medicine and preventive medicine.
Section 2: Requirement of Manuscript
1Word Count: The word count of original research article and literature review should not exceed 10000 Chinese characters (including bilingual titles key words, abstracts, figures, tables and references). Articles of perspective, achievement summary and discussion should not exceed 8000 Chinese characters. News or newsletters should not exceed 4000 Chinese characters. Other article types should not exceed 2000 Chinese Characters. The manuscript shall be in doc. format, No. 5 Songti font. The use of Chinese characters should comply with national standards.
2Configuration: The manuscript should be arranged by the following sequence: (1) Chinese title, (2) author names in Chinese, (3) institutes in Chinese ,(4) Chinese key words, (5) Chinese abstract, (6) China Library Classification Number, (7) English title, (8) author names in Pinyin, (9) English translation of institutes, (10) English key words, (11) English abstract,(12) main body text,(13) statements and acknowledgement,(14) references. The notes should be written at the bottom of the title page and the figures and tables inserted in the text. For columns such as Perspective, Newsletters, Diagnosis and Treatment and Discussion, item (7)-(11) could be omitted. For columns such as Short Article, Case Report and News, abstract and references can be left out.
3Title: The title should include object, factors and effect. It should be concise and expressive, without subtitle and within 25 Chinese characters. Words such as “study” or “discussion” should be avoided. The English title should be idiomatic and correspondent to the Chinese title.
4Authors: Please indicate the information of the first author and the corresponding author at the footer of the title page. The format is "name, degree, professional title, research direction, contact information, telephone or E-mail". The journal does not accept co-first author or co-corresponding author. English translation of author names shall be written in Pinyin, for example, ZHANG Sansi(张三四).
5Institute: The institute of all authors should be written in parenthesis (specify the department) both in Chinese and English, followed byprovince, city and postal code. Acronyms should be avoided. If the authors are form different institutes, the institute of the first author shall be written in the front, and Arabic numbers 1, 2, 3... shall be marked at the up-right corner of the author’s name and in front of the corresponding institute.
6Key words: key words are the significant words that pertain to the object or method of the article, or the words that appear in the title and abstract and are considered important by the author. Key words should be selected from the Medical Subject Headings (MeSH) issued by the National Library of Medicine of the US. If there is no such word in MeSH, combination of common free words can be listed at back. Except for news or newsletters, all articles, including literature review, should have 3-8 key words. The English and Chinese abstracts should be corresponding.
7Abstract: The abstract of original research article (including epidemiological research, experimental research, clinical research, methodological research, newsletters and news) should include four parts: Aim (why to do this work), Methods (how to do it), Results (what is obtained) and Conclusion (what is the significance). The results should be detailed and have necessary data and should generally be more than 300 Chinese characters. Other article types such as literature review should adopt descriptive abstract, within 150 Chinese characters. Avoid using “I” or “we” as subject. The English abstract should also be structured in the four parts be written in third person perspective and passive voice. The Chinese and English abstract should be the same in content.
8Chinese Library Classification Number: All manuscript should be marked with a Chinese library classification number according to the Classification Standard of Chinese Library Classification (Fourth Edition).
9Funding: The funding information (including the funding number) should be stated at the footer of the title page. The funded article would be published with priority, and the journal will reward the articles funded by national research projects (after publication).
10Requirement of main body text:
10.1Introduction: Explain the purpose and theoretical background of this work in one paragraph.For original research articles, the word count shall not exceed 300 Chinese characters; for others, it shall not exceed 100 Chinese characters.
10.2Structure: Headings such as Materials and Methods, Clinical Date, Results and Discussion should be marked with an Arabic number like 1, 2, 3. The secondary heading should be marked with 1.1, 1.2; 2.1 2.2. The third-level heading is 1.1.1, 1.1.2. The fourth level heading is (1), (2), (3) or ①, ②, ③. For detailed layout, please refer to the latest articles published on the journal.
10.3Experiment Material and Clinical Cases: The source, type and quantity shall be indicated. The experimental method can be quoted from other literatures. If there is any improvement, the reason and the change of method shall be stated. Any newly invented method should be detailed so that it can be reproduced. The methods of data collection and statistics shall be stated.
10.4Results: The results should be described by words, and illustrations and tables could be used if necessary. Try to use absolute numbers instead of ratio or percentage. The statistical significance should be indicated by P > 0.05, P < 0.05, P < 0.01 and P < 0.001.
10.5Discussion: The discussion should be focused on experimental results with reference to relevant literatures. It should be clear and structural. The argumentation should be evidnce-based and hypotheses be appropriate. Avoid over generalization and verbosity. The word count generally should not be more than 1000 Chinese characters.
11Terminology: Terminology should comply with the list published by the National Natural Science Terminology Approval Committee. If the term is not listed in, please refer to the English-Chinese Medical Terms published by the People’s Medical Publishing House. For new terms used by foreign journal articles, the translation of National Medical Journal of China and Acta Pharmacologica Sinica can be used. The original term and the source of the translation should be indicated in square brackets.
12Acronym:The use of English word or acronym should be avoided in Chinese title, Chinese key words, Chinese abstract, subheadings or the initial phrase of each paragraph. Each academic term should be written in its full name bilingually at the first time of appearing, e.g., 动脉粥样硬化(atherosclerosis,As), and then the acronym could be used in the following text. The use of acronym should also be avoided in English title and English key words but not in English abstract. However, the full name should be stated at the first time of mentioning, e.g., lipoprotein lipase (LPL). Acronym without its full name should be avoided, except for new terms for which there is no recognized translation or popular acronyms such as DNA, RNA, mRNA, etc.
13Numbers & Units:Arabic numbers should be used wherever is possible. For long numbers, there should be a space between each three digits, e.g., 54 000, 65.375 41, etc. The symbol “~” should be used to indicate a range. Please refer to the Chinese version of author instruction for the usage of Chinese numbers and detailed guideline of numbers and units.
14Statistics: All experimental data should be processed statistically. The probability should be graded as P> 0.05, P< 0.05, P< 0.01 and P< 0.001. The value range of P shall be indicated for correlation coefficient r. For any statistical result, the method must be described (except for the mean and the standard deviation). Please refer to the Chinese version of Author Instruction for detailed guideline of statistical symbols.
15Figures & Tables:
15.1General Requirement: Figures and tables shall be selective. The content in figures, tables and text should not overlap. The total number of figures and tables for original research article should not be more than 8.For other columns there should not be more than 4. Figures and tables should be referred to in the preceding paragraph.
15.2Serial & Heading: All figure and tables should be inserted in the main body text and numbered successively, e.g., Fig 1, Fig 2; Table 1, Table 2. The headings shall be in both Chinese and English, Chinese in the upper line. Top grid, number 6 Heiti fond. The headings of figures are placed at the bottom and the table headings are placed at the top.
15.3Format: All tables should adopt three-line style. The content and note should only be written in Chinese. The annotation is in No.6 Songti fond, top grid, and placed at the bottom. Terms of more than 6 Chinese characters in the table shall be abbreviated in English, and the full Chinese and English names of the abbreviation must be given in the text.
15.4Column Comparison: Comparative data should be marked with a, b and cin the up-right corner, and then explained in the notes with the P value. E.g., P<0.05, in comparison with …
15.5Histochemical diagram: Histochemical diagram must have large contrast, bright color, clear structure, direction symbols and scale (or indicate the magnification in the heading).
15.6Electrophoretic Map: Electrophoretic map shall be black and white. Each lane shall be distinguished by A, B, C, D,... Or 1, 2, 3, 4,... respectively, and the names of each component (and molecular size, such as kb) shall be marked.
15.7Line Diagram: Thick lines are used for broken lines, contour lines and function lines, and thin lines are used for center lines, leaders, coordinate axes and marker lines. The scale value is within 3 digits. Chinese characters and unit symbols with parentheses can be used for headings.
15.8Unit: Units must be indicated for data in tables, such as mmol / L, which is marked in parentheses after sub-headings. Whereas the symbols of percentage (%)should be written after numbers.
16Acknowledgment: Those who have made substantial contributions to the work of the article canbe mentioned if written consent is obtained.
17References: The cited literatures should be marked with Arabic numerals ([1], [2] …) according to the order in which it appears in the text and be arranged accordingly at the end of the manuscript. Authors should try to cite the literatures within the latest three years. The literature in the last five years should account for more than 2 / 3, and the literature in the last three years should account for more than 1 / 3. Original research articles are preferred. Online anonymous articles, internal material and informal conference papers shall not be quoted as references. For each reference, only the first three authors are listed, followed by "et al."The author's English name should be the full spelling of the surname and the initial letter of the given name. Chinese references shall be translated into English under the same number. English shall be placed beneath the Chinese. The format of references complies with the national standard (GB/T 7714-2005), as followed:

1Charging standard: Once the manuscript is accepted, an APC shall be payable (RMB 300/ one thousand Chinese characters) .After publishing, two free copies of the current issue shall be posted to the first author. A renumeration of RMB 100 will be deducted from the APC.
2Payment procedure: Generally, a notice of acceptance and APC shall be issued within 3 months. Please pay the APC as soon as possible upon receiving of the notice. The author must complete the Author Information Form, which can be downloaded from “Download Center” of the website. Table 1 is compulsory and for posting print journal and invoice to the authors.
3Instructions for transaction: The payee account has a very large transaction volume. For the convenient of management and inquiry, the transaction must be marked with "动脉 + the name of the first author". After the transition, please send the bank remittance voucher or electronic receipt (electronic version) to 522754837@qq.com with the author information form. The invoice will be issued at the beginning of each month only if the transaction is verified.
4Invoice information: please double check the invoice information in the Author Information Form (Table 1). Please check the invoice immediately after receiving it. In case of any mistake, please contact the editorial office and return the invoice immediately since re-issuing of invoice can only be completed within the same month. Generally, invoices are issued 1-2 months after the APC is received. 5Financial relationship:Chinese Journal of Arteriosclerosis is sponsored by University of South China and Chinese Society of Pathophysiology. The journal is not an independent judicial entity and have no financial autonomy. The financial affair is managed by University of South China. All APC must be transferred to the account of the University. The certificate of the financial relationship can be downloaded from the Download Center.
Section 4: Method of Submission
The journal adopts an online submission and review system. The website is www.dmzzbjb.net.Authors can log in the system to submit the manuscript and check the status. The journal does not accept submission by mail and e-mail. After submission, important notice will be sent by the online system tothe registered E-mail. The submission is deemed as authors’ agreement on all requirements in this "Author Instruction". The notice of acceptance will be sent to the author along with the invoice.
Supporting documents must be uploaded tothe submission systemand not through any other method. There are two times for uploading: ① when authors make the submission; ②when authors return the revised manuscript. The article will be published only if all the documents and APC is received.
