Aim To elucidate the relationship of Taq IB polymorphism in the cholesteryl ester transfer protein (CETP) gene and coronary artery disease(CHD). Methods Taq IB polymorphism in the cholesteryl ester transfer protein gene was analysed in 88 patients and 94 controls. The polymorphism was determined by polymerase chain reaction(PCR)-restriction fragment length polymorphism(RFLP) using genomic DNA from anti-coagulantion blood. χ 2 test and Logistic regression analysis were used. Results There are no defferences in both alle frequency and genotype distribution of cholesteryl ester transfer protein gene between patients and control groups. Conclusion The Taq IB polymorphism in the cholesteryl ester transfer protein gene doesn't contribute to coronary artery disease.
